A Mexican Volunteers Retreat with Clemy Crowther

Welcome to the fifth episode of The Newcomers Stage! Joining us on the island this week is Clemy Crowther, BA Events Graduate and MA Marketing graduate. Clemy started studying Events Management in 2014 and graduated with a Masters degree in 2019. Clemy is a keen volunteer for her local community, events and is part of the Girl Guiding charity. Clemy is also part of the Events Grads team and currently works on virtual B2B events!

Clemy describes her dream event as a post-COVID (we dream!) Mexican beach festival reunion alongside her colleagues, family and friends she has worked with throughout the years. Clemy’s ideal party would host up to 300 guests sticking with a close and intimate feel. Clemy’s location and beach of choice would be in Mexico with all of her friends and family being flown out, first class, on private jets! The plane journey there would set the scene for the festival extravaganza about to unfold… The plane would be fully decked out with a DJ, lots of party games and a free cocktail bar setting the party atmosphere.

Clemy’s dream event involves a two day event with all her guests staying in an all-inclusive, beautifully decorated Mexican hotel. Day one of the event starts as soon as the plane lands! After unpacking their essentials, a coach would be waiting outside the hotel ready to take the guests to the mystery beach location. Upon arrival, guests would be greeted with a glass of champagne and David Guetta as the DJ all whilst they take in their stunningly decorated surroundings and different party zones!

Zone one consists of a foam party (we love!) a silent disco area and a pool party area – complete with a swim up bar, pool games and karaoke! Moving away to a more chilled zone – we have zone two which includes a spa and massage area. In-between the zones, Clemy describes the stage which is set to include West End pop-ups throughout the day and David Guetta during the evening! Clemy’s favourites for the night include Billy Elliot and Mama Mia! The karaoke would feature all the classics, from the Spice Girls to The Modern Things with Clemy’s guests having full reign over this aspect of the event! Clemy’s ideal guests include Olly Murs, George Ezra and Gary Barlow (what a combo!) Whilst Clemy’s choice of song to sing with Gary Barlow would be Time of Your Life – an absolute classic for this event!

Moving on to catering – Clemy’s cocktail bar would be stashed with Mojito themed drinks and free flowing champagne for all! Clemy’s beach menu includes wood-fire pizzas and Yorkshire pudding wraps and as a post-party snack, Clemy decides on bowls of olives and feta cheese available at all times for guests on each table.

In terms of entertainment, Clemy is inspired by her cruise ship background and would include all of her favourite performers from the cruise ship for a huge performance leading into a party and get together into the sea!

Day two of the event sees guests back on the beach, chilling, drinking and playing a good old game of rounders! For lunch on day two, guests would be invited to an all-in buffet leading to a relaxing afternoon at the spa! The evening sees a completely different vibe – with a formal, dressy theme and dreamy party. A pop-filled, 90s throwback is well underway on day two with entertainment from Take That, Jessie J, Boyzone and Westlife! Dinner is all down to the guests this evening but Clemy’s ideal menu would include Mac and Cheese balls, unlimited sesame chicken from TGIs, Krispy Kreme doughnuts and salted caramel Espresso Martinis!
