This week on the Newcomers Stage Narmeen is joined by Events Management at University of Chester student Laura Horwell. Having a background in hospitality, and being the daughter of a project manager, Laura surprisingly chose events as her course after randomly finding it in UCAS!
Let’s get transported to Barcelona. This year the Women’s Equality Summit is about to take place. The city’s in an absolute hype for this three day inspirational bonanza. Laura and the production team have secured a few venues in the city centre to carry out the summit. It’s summer, the city’s bustling and the sun is shining.
The event averages 1000 people per day. Being a sponsored event makes it quite popular as entry is completely free of charge, which gives attendees the chance to spend that saved money experiencing Barcelona once the event has ended. The summit actually happens in the middle of the week so attendees get to also have a great weekend out afterwards.
The events format is hybrid, it has a great series of speakers, and the focus will be on empowering women and the ways this can be done in a non-tokenising, proactive way. Moreover, there will be a focus on wellness. What better way to complement the sunny weather like light-exercise classes? Or a yoga session midway through the day. Best way to clear your mind before the next inspirational session.
